The VIG Kids Camp was implemented by Wiener Städtischen Versicherungsverein, the main shareholder of the Vienna Insurance Group Wiener Versicherung Gruppe. Austria's largest local insurance group operates with approximately 50 insurance companies in 30 European countries and has more than 25,000 employees.
The young VIG Kids Camp members often travel a long way: They come from Albania, Estonia, Northern Macedonia, Georgia, Ukraine, Poland, Turkey and other countries to spend two weeks of their summer holidays in Austria. Wiener Städtische Versicherungsverein covers the costs of travel, accommodation, meals and the camp programme for the around 500 children entirely.
The young participants are children of the employees of the Vienna Insurance Group and between nine and 13 years old. In addition to lots of games, fun and sports, youngsters at VIG Kids Camp also make new friends with their peers from other countries and cultures. They also learn about the high importance of social commitment: On one day at the VIG Kids Camp, the kids visit senior citizens and entertain them with folk dance and singing performances.
In order to be part of the VIG Kids Camp, interested children participate in a creative competition, which is announced at the beginning of the year. The around 500 senders of the most imaginative nominations will be rewarded with an invitation to the VIG Kids Camp. In summer 2019, the VIG Kids Camp celebrated its tenth anniversary.
The VIG Kids Camp 2020 will not take place due to COVID-19. But from today's point of view, we are already looking forward to a continuation in summer 2021!
